The Power of Thinking; Positive and Negative

Change Your Life by Changing the Way You Think

As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.” Truer words have never been spoken. This concept embraces man in his whole being but it also reaches beyond his being into conditions and circumstances surrounding him. The character of a man is literally what he thinks. It is the sum of all of his thoughts.

Just as a flower bed left unattended will become overgrown with weeds, so does the mind. The thoughts that go into and come from it has the ability to grow weeds or flowers. You cannot attract good things into your life or be of good character with bad thoughts. Thoughts are powerful things, but if left unattended or harboring bad thoughts all the time, this power is put into attracting unpleasant things in your life.

Many people say, “You are what you eat”, but the truth is, “you are what you think”. If you want to lead a calm, peaceful life of abundance, those are the kinds of thoughts you need to fill your mind with. Our thoughts can build us up or destroy us. If we think of joy, peace and strength we will not only attract those things into our lives but create those things in our own character. If we think of sorrow, meanness, weakness, being rude, those are the kind of things we’ll attract and create in our character.

Thoughts are where the “Law of Attraction” begin to manifest. The mind is ruler over the body, and thoughts of being happy, healthy, thin, fat, lazy miserable–whatever the thoughts are, the body will follow. Thoughts also begin to attract the things to us that we are thinking about. If you think you’re fat, you’ll be constantly presented with cakes and donuts. These things will either stand out in the store like they’re staring you down, or the commercials on television will be all junk foods. But on the other hand if you begin to think of yourself as thin and healthy, you’ll start attracting those types of things. Instead of spotting the gooey cake in the store you’ll be more drawn to healthy snacks like fruits and nuts. Instead of junk food commercials on television you’ll begin to notice commercials geared towards healthier types of foods.

There’s been tons of material written on the power of thoughts and the whole subject is still not completely covered.

How can you have happier, healthier thoughts? Start reading material that’s uplifting. Turn the news off, in fact turn the television off. Find yourself a good book on the subject of thinking, or the Law of Attraction and start reading it.

Be mindful of the thoughts you have. If you start to notice that your thoughts are worthless and unproductive, turn it around and start thinking about nicer things. Think about things you’ve accomplished or things that make you happy. “I think therefore I am”. Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” This is a man who barely had an education and created one of the biggest automobile empires in the world. Why? Because he thought he could.

Zig Ziglar is famous for talking about what he calls, “stinking thinking”. That simply means if you have stinking thoughts, you’re going to attract stinking things into your life.

Whatever it is you need or want to do in life, it all begins with thought. You must think like it’s already happened. If you want to lose 20 pounds, you have to think like you’re already 20 pounds lighter. Think about how good it feels, how nice your clothes fit. Sooner or later the body is going to realize that it’s not in sync with the mind and will make adjustments. Is it that easy? It can be. It all depends on how powerful your thoughts are. Its not going to happen overnight. Turning any thought pattern around will take time and persistence, but it can be done.

Look at the character flaws of people in big business and government. They’ve been greedy, scandalous liars and that’s what they have to show for it. It has led to our economic decline. Most of them didn’t take office thinking that way. Their thoughts of greed and lying slowly crept in over time. When you hang out with people who think that way, it’s bound to rub off on you. That’s why you need to start associating with people who have positive thoughts, honor and integrity, read material that holds to your values and morals. Stop letting big media decide what’s good for you and shove their immoral programs down your throat.

You can think yourself happy, thin, and into greatness. But you must fill your mind with those things first.
