The Revenge of a Weekend Binge

The snow fell all day Friday and most of the night; a real winter wonderland. So what did we do? We ordered pizza, grabbed chips, dip and snack cakes at the convenient store across the street and we piled up for the weekend. When we did get out we grabbed a burger. It was fun while it lasted—but I’m definitely paying for it today. Carb overload is not a good thing. This post is inspired because I feel run down and like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck. Maybe inspired is a contradiction.

I’m a low carb advocate. I know how good I feel when I eat low carb and I know how quickly you can rid the body of fat by eating low carb. If you’re not a low carb advocate, I understand. But whatever you do eat that makes you feel good compared to what you eat that makes you feel bad—remember, a weekend binge on the bad foods is all fun and games while it’s happening, but come Monday morning there’s a price to pay.

Getting back to work on Monday morning is hard enough without a weekend of filling the system full of garbage. If you must splurge and do this on occasion—please make sure it’s only on occasion—don’t lock yourself back into bad eating habits because you had a fun-filled eating spree. Don’t beat yourself up either—chances are all that junk food is doing a good enough job at making you feel bad, no sense adding fuel to that fire with negative, self-sabotaging thoughts.

Today—in spite of how bad I feel, I’ve done my workout, drinking some green tea with ginseng and will take plenty of Vitamin C and water to help flush the toxins out of my system. I expect it may take at least two days of this to feel better—maybe longer considering how far off the healthy eating plan I went. If you’re facing this same thing on a Monday morning—just give it time. At least you’ll feel better by the weekend if you maintain your good habits throughout the week.
